If you’ve been getting good results with our current applications then you will love the new upgraded versions. “We work hard to keep our instructions up to date with current research so our customers will get the very best results, explains Jon Eberle, Director of Education at KT Tape. “Most kinesiology instructions on the market are outdated technique’s based on old theories and principles that have not kept up with current research”. Here’s a list of the current apps that are getting upgraded.

For most people, the first thing they’ll notice is that the new video’s only show us using I-Strips.That was intentional.

Why we like I-Strips:

• They last longer. I strips have fewer edges that can get snagged and cause the tape to peel up prematurely. Fewer edges mean’s better stick.
• They are easier to apply. Experienced KT Tapers know that I-Strips are easier to apply. One solid piece of tape is much easier to handle that splitting it in two and having legs dangling. Enough said.
• Better Support. Actually I-Strips provide better Proprioception, which increases the body’s awareness of the area with tape. I-Strips concentrate support over the injury which produces a greater therapeutic effect.

Just one more change worth mentioning. Since you don’t always have a friend around to tape you up when you need it, we decided to have the models apply tape to themselves in about ½ of the new video’s. We think this will make it much easier for people that are self taping.

I’ve been using KT tape sporadically for about 6 months, mostly on my feet. But my RELATIONSHIP with KT tape the company only started back in September. I was in The Netherlands with the US Track and Field 100K Ultramarathon team. I wasn’t running the race, but while I was there I had some training of my own to get done. One day, in the middle of a run, I began to feel some very sharp pain in my right foot. Shortly after, I realized that I forgot my KT Tape so I tweeted about it. Within minutes, the awesome people at KT Tape were responding to me and trying to get me some of their product. Being that I was literally in the middle of nowhere, we were unsuccessful. However, I was really impressed with their efforts and immediately knew that they had earned a customer.

Since my return to the US, I’ve been using a lot of KT Tape for my PF. There are multiple ways to tape your foot for PF using KT tape, but I have been following the instructions found in the video. I’ve pretty much been wearing the KT tape all the time, not just during my training runs. Each tape job has been lasting me a few days now that I’ve shaved the hair off of my right foot and calf so I’m not actually burning through that much tape.

In addition to wearing the tape as much as possible, I’ve also been rolling my arches with a  golf ball, icing my foot, wearing custom orthotics and strengthening my arches with some drills given to me by my physical therapist.

In the last few weeks, my arch has felt much better. In fact, I’d say it’s about 90% now. I’m back to running my normal mileages and last weekend, I was able to complete my fourth marathon in Victoria, BC. It wasn’t my fastest marathon (I expected this because of my less than ideal training cycle). Nor was it my slowest. But my arch was pain free for the entire day and KT tape had a lot to do with this. I’m sure of it.

If all goes well for me I’ve got another big race planned at the end of October. I’m sure my KT Tape will get me to the starting line.

“The entire week leading up to Nationals, in fact, all the way until I set foot on the plane to Halifax from Toronto Airport, all I could think about was how tired I was from all the training I had been doing and how much rather I would be at home in Vancouver recovering for Pan Am Games.  Now don’t get me wrong, I am an athlete, and thus I wanted to win, I just didn’t know if deep down I believed in myself that I could win Nationals. It must have been sometime on the sail out to the race course that I looked around and not only believed that I could win, but knew that I would get on the plane home with the National title.

I flew to Halifax fairly last minute and only had one day of training before racing began. Admittedly, if I were to do it again, I would give myself an extra day, I had kind of forgotten the 4 hour time change when booking my flight… oops! Regardless I arrived keen to race and was all ready to go. Perhaps I was a little to keen to race because I started off the event with being disqualified from race number one for being over early, false starting. If you receive this disqualification it is not ideal because it is worth A LOT of points, number of boats on the start list, plus 2. Luckily for me there were another 10 races remaining in the regatta, and with everyone being able to drop their worst finish after 5 races I was not concerned with my ability to win the event. Every race that we sailed I felt more and more confident in my tactics, boat speed, and boat-handling. I went on to win 7 of the following 10 races, comfortably winning the event, and defending my title from last year.

Looking back at it now I think it was silly to have had so much doubt in my own ability to perform but this was a great learning opportunity for myself, one I certainly will be able to apply at future events.

At the moment I am spending some time training at home, getting over a cold I picked up at Nationals, and looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner this weekend! I head off to the Pan American Games next week and am really looking forward to this multi-sport games event. Not only do I have my sites set on a medal, but I am also looking forward to having one last competition to work on a few things before the World Championships in December.

After injuring my knee in October of 2010 I experienced many setbacks in my sailing along with frustrating moments. One of the most frustrating being that the kinesio tape which supported my knee while training and competing would often fall off within minutes of becoming wet. It wasn’t until I tried KT Tape that I experienced the true benefit  while sailing! The KT Tape stays on for multiple days of sailing and thanks to it my knee once again feels stable in the boat!

Due to the positive experience with my knee, I have recently expanded my use of KT Tape to include, when needed, my SI joint, and both of my hip-flexors. I simply love KT Tape and all of the bright colors it comes in!”

Now, Sheehy is set to do something big again.  With the support of LLS’s Team In Training,  He is attempting a Guinness World Record of the most miles run in seven consecutive days.

Here is an excerpt from his blog: “At noon, on 30 May 2010,  I will begin my epic adventure to break the current record of 351 miles. I’ll be utilizing the last 13 miles of the San Diego Rock n’ Roll Marathon course between Fashion Valley (mile marker 13) and Sea World (mile marker 26).“

Sheehy is accepting donations through his site which directly benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Sheehy is driven to help raise money and run for those affected by cancer. His answers on why he set this goal: “Over the years, I’ve learned that cancer doesn’t discriminate and can impact any of our lives at any moment. Someone will be diagnosed with a blood cancer every four minutes and someone will die from blood cancer every 10 minutes.  Sadly, during my seven days of running, approximately 1,000 people in the US will die from blood cancer. This is not okay!”

From 52 Beginnings: This weekend I ran my 10th marathon in my journey to run 52 marathons in 52 weeks. It’s been an incredible and challenging journey already, but  this really is the experience of a lifetime and I want to cherish every race, every minute, every mile. I took on this feat to help children in South Africa through the Virginia based charity 25:40. Crossing the finish line is only one part of this adventure, the other goal is to raise $26,000 for these children, many of whom have been orphaned because of the AIDs epidemic. I have a long way to go with fund raising and running. However, I don’t come from a background of superior athleticism or genetic talent. This year will be a lot of mental determination, blood, sweat and tears.  And most importantly I have to stay physically healthy so I can complete this journey.   KT Tape has gone a long way to help me with recovery between races and staying the course in my marathons. I recently strained my back while lifting weights in the gym and I started using the KT Tape for that as well. I’m utterly amazed at what a difference it makes! It drastically improved my back strain and, in my opinion, shortened the healing time.

I took some pictures a couple weeks ago while getting ready for the Lower Potomac River Marathon in Piney Point, Maryland. I personally like using the KT tape to help stabilize the muscles in my calves prior to a race and the blue streaks make me easy to spot on the course! I’ve met quite a few runners at marathons who’ve asked me about my KT Tape and how it works. I had suggested KT Tape to a running friend of mine who was having some injury issues. He just completed his 2nd marathon, the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach this last weekend. I was excited to hear how the race went and how the KT Tape worked for him. He told me “it was the difference between finishing and DNF’ing out (DNF – Did Not Finish). I’m no expert at applying it, but it served my purpose admirably! I am a believer! Without it I’d not have made it otherwise.”  I was so happy for him, and so glad I had told him about KT Tape!!

With running marathons every week, I know I’m going to burn through a lot of KT Tape, but it’s making my challenge this year a little easier, helping my body recover faster and hopefully that means a little less blood and tears. I don’t think there’s a loop hole to get out of the sweat part of it!

I would wake up because my foot was hurting so bad, said Hicks, an avid runner, cyclist and swimmer who competes in marathons and triathlons.  I think I had tried just about everything. Stretching, molded inserts, night splints, specialized shoes, pain killers, you name it, I have tried it.

Hicks experienced some limited relief from these other methods, but nothing relieved the pain completely.  Doctors suggested she try surgery or give up running, neither of which were an option for the active athlete. Instead, she lived with the excruciating pain.
But at this year’s San Francisco marathon, Hicks discovered a sample pack of KT Tape in her race “goody” bag the night before the race.  As it happens, her plantar fasciitis was flaring up us well.

It especially hurt going up and down stairs.  I really didn’t know how I was going to run the race. I knew how bad I was feeling and decided “what the heck?”.  I figured if the tape didn’t work, I would stop and take it off.
Hicks checked out the easy-to-follow instructions included in the package, and applied the pre-cut KT Tape strips to her feet.
That same night I had to go get some water at the mini mart outside the hotel. That meant I had to use the stairs. I went down the stairs and back up with no pain.  I really couldn’t believe it.  I was amazed and thought I must be slightly crazy.  How could tape give instant relief?
Hicks was impressed, but the true test of KT Tape came on race day.

I ran the race with no plantar flare up.  The tape stayed secured where I placed it and I never noticed it during the race.  It wasn’t irritating in anyway.  I have found my antidote!
