I have also just recently bought my first role of tape. I have tried the different methods but I can't get it to stick for more than 10 minutes into my workout. Thanks

I am in the same boat as most of these comments. I've been applying the tape on my knee, and I cannot make it remain down. Each time I watch the video again and take my time applying the tape, but I'm starting to get discouraged. One of the tips mentioned that it may take a couple times to get used to the application process, but I've used half my box and haven't even made it through one workout. I think the tip about stretching the skin helped some, but the ends are still curling up on me.

I cannot get the tape to stick to my knee for long either and have been pretty meticulous in following all the directions and following the videos. I haven't read much about hair on the legs/knee. My hair isn't heavy but it is there, I may try trimming it as I have read elsewhere that you don't necessarily need to shave it. I'd like to get some feedback on shaving and hair length and amount.

Also are there some details on the "newer" adhesive, dates retail locations, etc? I bought my tape at a Walmart about a month ago and while I did not save the box, I don't recall that there were different boxes, but there was slightly different lengths to the rolls which I thought odd. Thanks.

We've heard your comments and others with the same issue's and we developed a brand new product line called KT Tape Pro that we believe has solved these issue's for good. Is the tape supposed to split apart down the middle (long section) of the tape while applying? Never used KT Tape before, and both rolls I purchased from Amazon are spllitting down the middle. Doesn't seem like it would be as strong as tape which doesn't split down the middle.

I purchased 2 rolls of KT tape from Sports Authority today and have spent the past 4 hours and one entire roll trying to get a proper adhesion for my shin splints and plantar fasciitis. According to some of the posts my efforts seem to be in vain due to the adhesive used in the older products. Rubbing alcohol, air drying and 0% stretch haven't helped. In the videos I have watched they are using the new tape and I haven't seen it pull like mine. I cannot get the proper stretch because the initial application is not holding.

I would love to try the new KT Pro tape, the idea is sound and seems to be exactly what I need. I am not sure I can justify another $20-$40 dollars for two more rolls. Any help with this matter would be appreciated.

My apologies for my delayed response...

Do you have the OLD cotton or the new PRO? The new PRO comes in a bright orange box.
problems with adhesion in the new pro are almost non-existant.....in fact I taped folks at the LA marathon last weekend....they had been standing in the rain and even with cold air and damp feet that I had to try and dry, the tape stuck quite well. As a medical professional and PRO taper, I would suggest you try the PRO if you have not.

Please let us know how this works for you.

I'm having issues with the stick as well. I am applying for general wrist pain since I have not found an application for my specific problem. I use it mainly when playing tennis.

Normally the applications around the wrist do not peel too bad after the first day (maybe just the edges) but the 2 inch section that is applied on the top of my hand tends to peel about an hour after the beginning of my tennis session. I do it just as the video tells me to. No tension on the ends, dry surface, there's basically no hair on the top of my hand, the hairs on my forearm are very short, and I apply the tape at least 2 hours before I begin my session. I'm not sure why this is happening but I assumed it is because my wrist is moving back and forth a lot when I play.

Anyway, I normally just leave the part that comes off flapping around instead of cutting it off right away but when I hit the shower, the tape really starts to peel. I avoid rubbing the tape while in the shower but the water seems to peel up the edges on all sides of the tape. By the time I'm done, I have to take off the tape.

Time from application to shower: approximately 8 hours
Time from end of workout session to shower: less than 2 hours

At the moment, I am using the cotton tape. So I don't understand why it's not lasting its minimum, much less its maximum, duration. Right now I am doing just as the instructions tell me and the tips from the first post match up very closely to what I have done/tried. What else can I do?

I have been using the Pro Tape for about 3 weeks now, and it is AWESOME. I tend to get Pes Anserine Bursitis (inner knee inflammation) in my right knee, and the application is the KT video has helped tremendously. The tape has stayed on for 4-5 days through sweat, showers, and lots of activity, and when I remove it, it's still firmly stuck (but after 5 days, it was time to swap). I'm now thinking of trying it for my bunion, but I've not yet had a chance to give it a go.

Thanks KT--my only problem now is how to decide which color to wear!

How many times can 1 strip be reused? or is it only good for the 3-5 days on the one application

You cannot reuse any strip. Once you take it off it is off. With cotton you are looking 3-5 days of hold time and with PRO 5-7 days of hold time.

I just bought the KT Pro elastic tape at Walmart yesterday. I applied it as directed before work. It didn't even last three hours and the ends were peeling and the sides were rolling. Is the tape sold at Walmart a lower quality? I had high hopes for this but now feel like I wasted my money.

What walmart typically sells is the cotton version.

However, if you have a Dick's Sporting goods or Sports Authority, I would suggest purchasing the PRO version which is in an orange box.

I have been using the Pro tape, and this last application was put on Saturday (It is now Wednesday), and the trick I used was after it was applied, I took a hot cup of coffee, and used that in place of the friction (this may or may not be advised) to activate the adhesive. It only just started peeling, and only the edges.

It appears that I am having the same issues as most users on here. I have a roll of orange KT PRO. I have attempted taping my shoulder and also my heel . I have read other posts on this forum; I have watched the application videos; I have made sure to clean the areas prior to applying; I have made sure not to touch the ends of the tape; I have round the edges when cutting the tape; I have made sure to apply "no stretch" at the ends; I have trimmed down hair around my ankle; and I have even tried applying hairspray to the areas prior to applying the tape.
I am unsatisfied with your product, especially for the price of your product.

I guess I'm not the only one. I am on my second application in 3 days. I followed the tips on the website, and on the instructions. The full end seems to stick better than the split ends. I am using it for a calf strain. I have shaved my calf and most of the shin. Used the let the ends relax and gave them a good rub down after sticking them. My leg was in a stretch position when I applied.
I also was wondering what application is correct. Youtube has 3 videos for the calf strain. I'm using the newest one.
I will see how it looks before my run in the morning if I will put new tape on. At this point I think the rest is going back to Dicks for a refund. I may just need to sport my recovery socks for a few days.

Hello,

I purchased the KT Tape Pro a couple weeks ago, and have not been able to get through any type of training session or game without it coming off in my sock. Soccer player trying to recover from an ankle sprain.
Every time I reach half time, I have to take my sock off and pull the tape out of it as it has become one with the sock instead of my skin.

Any suggestions as to how to keep the application in the right place?

I've had no issues getting the take to stick to my skin, my issue is getting it to stay stuck to itself. Does this issue go away with the PRO tape? If so, until I can find the Pro tape, is there anything I can do to keep the cotton tape stuck to itself?

Having the same problem as many in this topic. I bought 2 rolls of the KT Tape at Road Runner Sports and have not had any luck with the tape staying on for a full work out. Using it on my calf and both strips came off half way into a 50 mile yesterday and today 1 mile into a 4 mile run. I have followed the application instructions to the letter but no luck. Does this have a shelf life ? I noticed the rolls I have have just a "K" on the end, look like the new ones have a "KT" In running a marathon next week and need this to stick.
Should I try the KT Pro. I believe in the product but so far very disappointed and feel I have wasted $20 bucks Suggestions???
