We are excited to welcome Steve Cannon as our newest KT Tape sponsored athlete. In 2009, Steve began his first Run to Cure Cancer with an amazing run across Iowa. This year he will become the first person to ever run around Lake Michigan. In his efforts to raise money and awareness for fighting cancer, Steve will undertake the enormous challenge of running around the world’s 6th largest lake.
June 22nd, 2009 was the start of the first “Run To Cure Cancer”.
Beginning in Council Bluffs, Iowa and finishing 11 days later in Muscatine, the journey covered 300 miles, crossing the entire state of Iowa. During the run I was joined by friends, family and people I had never met, all in support of the run for their own special reasons.
1037…That is the magic number!!! 1 step, 1 mile, repeated 1,037 times. Starting on NAVY PIER in the Windy City, May 20th 2012, I’ll attempt to become the first person to run AROUND Lake Michigan. The journey will cover 1,037 miles in 40 days.
40 Marathons, 40 Days to end this terrible disease.
I hope you will take time to travel around the site and see the stories of “The Run” and the people who inspire it. True heroes.
Steve hopes to raise $250,000 with his run around Lake Michigan. All of the money raised will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and will help to hopefully defeat cancer once and for all. People can sponsor Steve by “buying” a mile of the run. For information on how you can help him in his fight to cure cancer and to follow his progress, visit his website. We’ll keep track of Steve’s progress and updates on the blog.
