Two gold medals and two babies later, KT Tape athlete Kerri Walsh shares her reflections on ten years of playing professional volleyball, and the most important experiences she brings to her third run for Olympic Gold. Nicole and I have been training for a few weeks now and it's been so much fun! We have a fantastic coach, Marcio Sicoli, who is going to push us to be the very best we can be, both individually and collectively. He will push us to be the very best. Period. This time of year always puts me in a reflective mood. I find that this helps to keep my life in perspective, reminds me of all that I have to be grateful for and serves as a huge inspiration for the upcoming year. The start of 2011 has me thinking about my start on the beach. I have been competing professionally on the beach since 2001. I started fresh out of Stanford and walked into an amazing opportunity to play alongside my childhood idol and one of the best players in the history of the game. I was young, green and so excited about the new life I was starting. Fast forward 10 years ... What a wild ride! I married the love of my life (whom I met on my very first day of training with Misty!), have two beautiful baby boys (my biggest dream come true!), I won two Olympic gold medals with Misty (not done yet!), and I'm still living the dream and striving for Gold. Even though 10 years have passed, in some ways I still feel like that young kid straight out of college eager to learn, to improve and to make my dreams come true. That which inspires me continues to be my family (slightly larger now with the blessed addition of Joey and Sundance), and my internal drive to become the very best I can be. I am so far from where I can be, and I'm excited to keep reaching for that golden ring. Along with Casey, Joey, and Sundance, we at KT Tape are excited to watch Kerri's quest for her third Olympic Gold!
